Latin Events Calendar (latineventscalendar.com and the Latin Events app) is run by SMB Cloudware Inc. It lists Latin dance events. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking, and we never sell information.

On the website

  • Your region is remembered in a cookie on your device for a year, so the calendar opens where you dance.
  • Fonts load from Google Fonts, so Google receives your device's IP address when a page loads.
  • Like any website, our server records requests, including IP addresses, in logs kept for a limited time for security and troubleshooting. Your IP address is also used briefly, in memory, to stop people sending too many suggestions or reports.

In the app

  • Your region, saved events and notification choices stay on your phone. Reminders for saved events are scheduled on your phone; we never learn what you saved.
  • Notifications are optional. If you turn them on, the app sends our server an anonymous push ID made for this app, your region, the dance styles you chose, which notifications you want, your app version and whether it's an iPhone or Android phone. Nothing else about you or your phone. Messages are delivered through Expo's push service and Apple or Google.
  • Photos: the app only sees the one image you choose as a flyer when you submit an event.
  • Address search: when you look up a venue or address in Submit an event on iPhone, what you type is sent to Apple Maps to find matches. The app never uses your own location.
  • App updates download from Expo, which, like any server, sees your IP address.

When you submit an event, report a problem or suggest a city

  • Submit an event (website or app) sends the event details (in the app, that can include the venue's map pin), an optional flyer, and your name, email address and how you know the event. If the event is approved, its details and flyer are shown publicly. Your name and email are never shown; we use them only to ask about that event. On the app, your name and email are also remembered on your phone for next time.
  • Report a problem sends what's wrong, any details you write and, if you choose, your email address. From an event, it also sends which event; from the Report a problem page, it sends where you saw the problem if you tell us.
  • Suggest a city or region sends the city, anything you tell us about its dance scene, how you're part of it, your email address and, if you choose, your name. We use them only to ask about that city.
  • With each suggestion, report or city request we keep a one-way code made from your connection, not your IP address itself, so we can tell when several different people report the same problem.
  • Suggestions, reports and city requests are kept as records and emailed to our moderator.

Deleting your information

  • In the app, Profile → Delete my data removes your phone from our notification list, turns notifications off and clears your saved events. Turning notifications off also removes your phone from the list.
  • If you delete the app, your phone is removed from the list once Apple or Google tells us the app is gone.
  • To delete a suggestion or report you sent, email calendar@latineventscalendar.com with the event name and the email address you used. We reply within 30 days.

Who receives information

Only the services needed to run the calendar: our hosting provider, Expo (app updates and notification delivery), Apple (notification delivery and Apple Maps address search), Google (notification delivery) and Google Fonts (website fonts). We don't share information for advertising or marketing.

Children

The calendar is meant for adults; many listings are at bars and clubs. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. Questions or requests: calendar@latineventscalendar.com.
